Changing your relationship with the natural world
Murray Livingston Photography
Murray is a nature and landscape photographer offering fine art prints and on-location workshops. He is based in the United Kingdom with a Masters degree in Architecture. Murray was born in South Africa and has lived on 4 continents; appreciating nature is at the core of his approach to practicing and teaching photography. Murray believes in developing a conversation between nature and the photographer through careful observation and learning. His workshops focus on teaching on the art of photography, building creative confidence, and the search for deeper meaning through nature. Landscape and nature photography is his way of connecting with wilderness all over our planet, and to give back. With the goal of being carbon-negative, your support via prints and workshops have already helped to plant more than 220 trees all over the world via OneTreePlanted.
The galleries on this site display Murray’s best photographic artwork, organised into themes. To view fine art prints for sale, please explore the galleries. Murray is extremely discerning about the quality of his landscape photography prints; as such, each work of art is made with only the highest quality print mediums and is handcrafted to your precise specifications. All prints are available at small, medium, and large sizes perfectly suited to your home, gallery, board room, or office space. If you require design services or print consultation about your art please do not hesitate to get in contact. With his architectural background, Murray can help to design the best print for your space.
Murray is most occupied at the moment by two themes, Scotland’s Ancient Caledonian Forest and Scotland’s Animism: Mountain Spirits; these themes are slowly developing into long-term projects. While Murray loves travel and adventure, it seems more important than ever to appreciate locality and find a spiritual or existential connection to nature in your immediate environment.

Murray Livingston Photography Testimonials
Nicholas Becker, Landscape Photographer
“Really fantastic E-Book! Murray packed a lot of information in a small number of pages. Loved the image studies at the end.”
Sean Crawford, Landscape Photographer
"I ordered a print from Murray of a local landscape much loved by me. The print is a beauty, and Murray presented it beautifully. He was also really helpful communicating about postage, and happy to delay postage to accommodate my holiday and ensure the print didn't arrive before my return. Murray's a first class artist."
Anne W., Landscape Photographer
“Wow! What a workshop! Firstly was the stunning location on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides… There were so many superb landscapes to capture with my camera under a variation of weather situations. The landscape has a special way of wrapping one in it's beauty, and I delighted in it!
Secondly was the superb workshop leader. Murray is an outstanding photographer and an exceptional teacher. He took the time to explain, teach and correct, and went out of his way to. I felt completely comfortable in his presence. If an opportunity presents itself to do this workshop with Murray again, I would definitely consider it. I have no doubts at all to recommend any of Murray Livingston's workshops to anyone.”

“I had a marvellous two-day workshop in Glen Affric, Scotland, with Brad & Murray. Their knowledge and insight were essential in developing my photography to a new level. Being fairly new to woodland photography I found the woodlands quite overwhelming and between them they discussed and demonstrated how they break down the perceived overwhelming chaos and enabled me to see the woodland in a different way. Their tuition and guidance for me was transformative. I now go forward with a new perspective and seek to build on what new insights I have gained with Brad and Murray. I cannot thank you both enough, absolutely marvellous.”
Allister G., Architect and Landscape Photographer
“What a fabulous weekend spent in the majestic setting of Glen Affric. We were introduced to the scenery and surroundings by a pair of photographers who have the utmost respect for the environment and their clients. We had knowledgeable and thoughtful tuition throughout the whole weekend. There was also the relative luxury of time; time to be able to take in the scenery, time to compose and time to reflect.
The time Brad and Murray spent tutoring us was immense, not just a case of “have you tried this?”, but more of an exploration of why are we making a particular frame, what drew us to it, and then the technical tuition on how to achieve it. I loved how there was an element of mindfulness about all aspects of the workshop, from respecting the place and each other to approaching each frame and spending a moment to take in the majesty around us.
I'm very pleased with the work I made, and I feel that my landscape photography has improved enormously.”

“The concept of hiking and photography really appealed to me. I found the hiking challenging but the photography rewards were well worth it. Murray and Ben planned and ran the week perfectly. Minor changes were made to suit the conditions to ensure that we got the best photography opportunities possible. Their knowledge of photography, hiking and the highlands is excellent. Our Highlands Guide (Jen) was a bonus, with her local knowledge and willingness to show us some off the track places was great, not to mention the dram of whisky she unexpectedly produced to celebrate scaling UK's most remote Munro!!
Any photographer willing to face some challenging conditions will be more than compensated with stunning views, epic photos and memories that will endure.”
